Spending time @englewood.arts and being invited an

Spending time @englewood.arts and being invited and welcomed into the Englewood community by its residents made me think back about my previous residency in beautiful Træna. I look back at it with memories of a fantastic experience and jaw-dropping scenery but also with feelings of regret of it not quite turning into what it could’ve or achieving what I hoped. In the coming days I’ll post some more images of my Træna adventure and my interpretation into furniture that resulted from it.

This Friday is the opening night of @ojomills solo

This Friday is the opening night of @ojomills solo show ‘A Soft Place to Land’, @leedyvoulkosartcenter gallery in Kansas City. As part of the exhibition Olivia and I created these lamps, made of a laborious wood pattern inspired by the centuries old yarn dyeing technique ‘Ikat’ and handwoven local alpaca roving that diffuse the light, creating an exceptional illumination.

About a month ago I got to visit the Englewood community in Independence, Missouri.
Here a group of locals together with outside help have set up Englewood arts, a non-profit art centre where I’ll be doing a year long artist in residency as soon as my visa comes in. During a period of one short month however I have been able to get to know the local community and the art center, meet the people involved and I have already been able to enjoy some time in the workshop!

The island community of Træna has been the focal point of my final bachelor’s exam project. In the coming days I’ll be sharing some images of the island, the artistic process and the final object.

This project in collaboration with @rohsska Museum

This project in collaboration with @rohsska Museum of Design in Gothenburg was inspired by their collection of 18th century furniture.
Reimagining the glamour and opulence of that era and achieving full artistic expression by combining painting with a contemporary functional furniture. Elevating it to something more than just an object that makes a space suitable for living.
